Symphony of the Hills will present a free Independence Day concert July 4 at the Cailloux Theater in Kerrville, combining patriotic music with a memorial tribute marking the anniversary of the July 4, 2025, flood.
The concert, titled “Stars, Stripes, and Spirit: Remembrance & Resilience,” will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 4, at the Cailloux Theater.
Dr. Eugene Dowdy, conductor and artistic director, will lead the full orchestra through a one-hour performance featuring patriotic selections and music focused on remembrance and resilience.
“The symphony wanted to present this free concert both as a salute to our nation’s birth and as a memorial to the anniversary of the July 4, 2025, flood,” Dowdy said. “We are dedicating it to the resolve, commitment, and strength of our people, our First Responders, ongoing recovery teams, and our community.”
The program will also include a reading of the names of those who lost their lives during last year’s flooding.
Musical selections scheduled for the concert include “Fanfare for the Common Man” by Aaron Copland, “American Salute” by Morton Gould, “God Bless the U.S.A.” by Lee Greenwood and “The Stars & Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa.
Soprano Sarah Davis will perform “God Bless America,” while Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring will serve as narrator for Copland’s “Lincoln Portrait.”
The concert is free and open to the public. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Theater lobby doors will open at 3 p.m., with concessions available.
The Cailloux Theater is located at 910 Main St. in Kerrville. Free parking will be available.
