CTFB to hold distribution for food at High School stadium

The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) will hold a drive-thru food distribution event on Saturday, May 30, at the Fredericksburg High School Football Stadium, 1107 State 16 South, Fredericksburg. The event is on a first-come first-served basis and will be from 10-11 a.m.

The organization is looking for additional volunteers to help with the distribution. The minimum age to participate is 12 years old, however minors must be accompanied by an adult who is 21-yearsold or older. There are some eligibility requirements to volunteer. The distribution will go forward rain or shine, with the exception of inclement weather. To learn more about volunteering or to sign-up, visit cafb.volunteerhub.com/ vv2/event/7a6422876533-4f9d-aa83-e95fb40ec915.

Volunteers will direct vehicles at the drive-thru. The CTFB asks drivers to stay in their vehicles.

The drive comes one month after the CTFB presented the results of its Community Needs Assessment of food insecurity in the county.

“Our Community Needs Assessment data revealed that there were limited distribution sites within Gillespie County. We increased our mobile distributions from one to two locations to increase food access,” stated a CTFB spokesperson.
