The Hill Country is bursting with color this spring, from flowing rivers and blooming wildflowers to migrating birds and star-filled skies – and there’s still time to capture it all in the Hill Country Alliance Photo Contest.
The Hill Country Alliance (HCA) is officially halfway through its annual region-wide photo contest, which runs through May 31, 2026. Photographers of all ages and skill levels are invited to submit original photographs capturing the vibrant beauty of our native landscapes, wildlife, water resources, night skies, and unique character of the Texas Hill Country.
Since 2007, HCA’s annual photo contest has encouraged Texans and visitors alike to document the beauty and heritage of the Hill Country – from scenic landscapes and pristine springs to diverse wildlife and historic towns. Winning images are featured in HCA’s annual Texas Hill Country Calendar and help tell the story of why this region is worth protecting.
“The photo contest is one of our favorite ways to celebrate the incredible diversity and beauty of the Hill Country while also inspiring people to care for the places they love,” said Katherine Romans, Executive Director of HCA. “Every year we’re amazed by the talent and perspective photographers bring to the contest, and we encourage anyone with a camera – whether professional or beginner – to participate.”
Winning photographers will receive cash prizes, recognition through HCA’s communications channels, and inclusion in the 2027 Texas Hill Country Calendar.
Photographs can be submitted online through May 31 at: contest. hillcountryalliance. org.
