Named the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post’s Readers’ Choice for Best Boutique for six years running, Loca on Main strives to offer its customers a fresh shopping experience.

Manager and store buyer Madison Grenwelge said the store was first started in Kerrville in a smaller capacity.

“Before Glenda (Ivy) had her own store, she had her own little pop-ups in someone else’s store before deciding to go out on her own,” Grenwelge said. “And now, here we are, we’ve blossomed into this great thing.”

In 2015, the store expanded and moved to its current Fredericksburg location, 201 E. Main St.

“What makes us stand out is that we carry stuff for everybody,” Grenwelge said. “Whether you are 15 years old and just starting to get into fashion or you’re 75 years old and you have that little fashionista in you, we carry something that everyone likes.”

As a buyer, Grenwelge said she loves exploring new pieces and curating the best for Loca on Main.

“I’ve loved being able to buy and see the new trends that come and go,” Grenwelge said. “I try not to hyper fixate on certain trends, because for some people it’s not something they’ll want to wear in six months. I look for more timeless pieces that you’re able to layer and wear through different seasons.”

The store also offers a wide range of sizes, from extra small up to 3XL. Grenwelge said it’s important to herself and the store’s other employees to offer something for everyone.

“I love that we have more (size) diversity here,” Grenwelge said. “So if my size small girl wants to wear a piece or my 2X girl wants to wear it, she has an opportunity as well.” Another strength, Grenwelge said, is the store’s prices.

“Our price point helps as well, we try to keep things very affordable for customers, because we know that they don’t want to be spending an arm and a leg on a blouse,” Grenwelge said. “Being able to have something that can appeal to everybody and then still have that good price point is what really helps us stand out.”

Grenwelge said one of the store’s greatest strengths is its regular rotation of items, which keeps the shopping experience exciting.

“We love our locals. As a company, we strive to keep our store fresh and new, specifically for our locals,” Grenwelge said. “Every week, we do our store reset, so if we have our local customer that we know comes in every Tuesday, she has something new to see every time. She’s able to continue shopping with us.”
