An 81-year-old woman was found dead this morning at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area after being reported missing yesterday afternoon.
She was found around 9:30 a.m. and pronounced dead by the Justice of the Peace.
The search for the woman began yesterday afternoon at 3 p.m. after she was reported to be lost on the park’s Loop Trail. Texas State Park Police Officers, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area staff, Texas Game Wardens, Willow City Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Fredericksburg Fire/EMS and other regional first responders participated.
Storms moving into the area hindered aerial search efforts. Non-essential resources were released from search efforts Tuesday night before the storm moved in due to unsafe conditions. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department staff kept searching overnight.
