Billies win one, lose one prior to Thanksgiving break

The Fredericksburg High School varsity boys’ basketball team played two games before the Thanksgiving Break last Monday and Tuesday.

The Billies (5-2) picked up a 69-63 win over Comfort Monday afternoon at the FHS Performance Gym.

Following the win, FHS dropped a non-district home encounter against Uvalde, 66-53, Tuesday Nov. 25.

FHS 69, Comfort 63

Tucker Hale scored a season- high 36 points to lead the FHS Battlin’ Billies to a 69-63 win over the Comfort Bobcats.

“We got a great game from Tucker (Hale), scoring 36,” said FHS Head Boys Basketball Coach Tim Kaman. “Our guys are doing a great job of getting him the ball in the paint.”

Gage Bryant added 12 points and came up with nine assists for the Billies.

“Gage (Bryant) struggled early but played very well when we needed it in the fourth quarter,” Kaman said. “He took a charge at a pivotal time. I was happy that he responded the way he did after I challenged him to play better at halftime, and that is what needs to happen.”

Davis Lochte collected seven points, four steals and six rebounds.

“Davis (Lochte) hit a huge three-pointer in the corner late in the game, and we got great defense by Yair (Hernandez), Kress (Mohr), Will (Allen) and Jaren (Quay) the entire game,” Kaman said.

Yair Hernandez tallied five steals for the Billies and William Allen finished with one block.

“I am so proud of this group right now,” Kaman said. “They are playing so hard for each other. This was a huge win. Comfort is a well-coached team that will be a playoff team at the end of the year.”
