For those who know of PAWs (Pedernales Animal Welfare Society) and its mission of pet spay and neuter, I wanted to share that the founder of PAWS, Bonnie Smith, passed away recently after a long illness. (Many people also remember Bonnie as the “sunglasses lady,” with her kiosk on the 200 block of East Main Street.) Though she has not lived in Fredericksburg for several years now, PAWS continues to carry on her good work in our town.
