On Dec. 5, 2023, MayorJerylHoover signed a proclamation declaring the period December 2023 through December 2024 as the 175th Anniversary of Fort Martin Scott, in recognition of its role — described by the Commanding General of all U.S. Army forces in Texas — as the “most advanced and most important position on the frontier.”
