History on display
The Victorian-style Pioneer Memorial Library was commissioned by Gillespie County in 1881 to be a second courthouse. The building fell into disrepair and was condemned in 1963, but a restoration effort brought it back to life and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. – Photos by Dana Rowan
