The 65th annual Historic Home Tour and Holiday Market is 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. This year’s tour features seven homes opened by their owners and the historic Pioneer Memorial Library, which will be open for tours at 2 p.m. The holiday market, featuring 20 artisanal vendors, is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the 1855 former First United Methodist Church, now owned by the Gillespie County Historical Society. The event is presented by and benefits the Historical Society and Pioneer Museum. For tickets or more information: https://www. pioneermuseum.org/hometour. Tickets will also be on sale the day of the event.
The Victorian-style Pioneer Memorial Library was commissioned by Gillespie County in 1881 to be a second courthouse. The building fell into disrepair and was condemned in 1963, but a restoration effort brought it back to life and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. – Photos by Dana Rowan
