’Tis the season for Oktoberfest

At the 44th annual Oktoberfest, hosted by the Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance, locals and visitors, alike, were able to enjoy German food, music, drinks and games over the course of three days.

On Friday, festivities kicked off with OkTubafest, which invited baritone, euphonium and tuba players of all ages to bring the oompah-pah directly to attendees.

On Saturday, the Fredericksburg Morning Rotary sponsored the annual Kraut Run, which saw over 600 registrants for the 5k and 8k timed runs and the 5k non-timed walk.

Festivities at Marktplatz continued with the Hauptstrasse (Main Street) Chicken Dance, meetand- greets with local and national brewers, and the Samuel Adams stein hoist contest.

On Sunday, guests were treated to German dance demonstrations and were able to participate in the dirndl and lederhosen contests.

Deborah Reeh, Oktoberfest event producer, said she has heard positive feedback from locals and visitors, alike.

“One man, he came with 22 of his friends and they all dressed the part,” Reeh said. “We are lucky to get to host people from all over the world for this event.”
