Ron Woellhof was pictured in the Fredericksburg Standard lacing up his hiking boots in 1980 during the Second Annual Oktoberfest Walk. The event was held outside of town near the KOA Campground, where about 900 participants took part in one of two routes. The former Walk has been replaced by the Kraut Run today, sponsored by the Morning Rotary Club. That run, beginning and ending at the Fredericksburg Middle School site on Travis Street, has almost 500 pre-registered runners. — File photo
