READING AND FEEDING A COMMUNITY

Carter Cathey, Gillespie County 4-Her, was one of 20 Texas 4-H youth chosen to participate in Texas Global Leadership Opportunities Beyond Education (GLOBE). The yearlong program aims to help youth to develop an understanding of global cultures, poverty throughout communities, sustainable agriculture, and building personal leadership while addressing issues within their own community. Carter, a Fredericksburg Middle School student, erected a community pantry/library that he built with his father, Dusty Cathey. The pantry was constructed using mostly re-purposed materials. Carter also helped coordinate and promote a community garage sale in Stonewall Friday and Saturday, May 17-18, from 7 a.m.-5 p.m., at the Stonewall Chamber of Commerce, 250 Peach St. — Submitted photo
