The Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) said in a statement it took steps to prepare for sub-freezing temperatures projected to grip Texas this weekend. Residents and operators are encouraged to keep an eye on weather forecasts and safety alerts.

The RRC will remain in constant communication with operators and other agencies to ensure ample gas is in supply for the long holiday weekend (gas markets will be closed), according to a spokesperson.
