DOSS NEWS

Our neighbors to the south have the 59th Annual Harper Frontier Days celebration this coming weekend, Sept. 22-23. Friday night is team roping. The parade at 5 p.m. starts the Saturday events. The meal is at 6 p.m., rodeo at 7:30 p.m., and the dance with The Wagon Aces starts at 9 p.m. Come out and have a great time with neighbors and friends.

The Doss Volunteer Fire Department training will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21. All members are asked to attend.

Also, the fire department will hold an appreciation lunch for all the workers who helped at the recent fish fry on Sunday, Sept. 24. Happy hour starts at 12 noon with the barbecue meal at 1 p.m. Barbecue, potato salad, coleslaw and pinto beans will be provided. Members are asked to bring a side dish and/or dessert.

The fire department’s auxiliary will be cleaning up and setting up for Sunday’s event at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23.

_ain finally came to the Doss Valley. Rainfall reports from the last week are from 2 to 8.50 inches. In some areas, ranchers had to even fix water gaps as the Threadgill, Beaver and Squaw Creeks were on a rise. It’s been a while since that has happened.
