First-day enrollment totals 2,932 at FISD campuses

Fredericksburg Independent School District had 2,932 students report for the first day of classes on Monday, Aug. 14, the district reported.

That includes 1,009 at Fredericksburg High School and another 17 at Gillespie County High School for a total of 1,026 on campus.

By class, the breakdown was 299 freshmen, 253 sophomores, 237 juniors and 220 seniors.

Fredericksburg Middle School had 634 students, with 203 in sixth grade, 220 in seventh and 211 in eighth grade.

Fredericksburg Elementary School had 708 on its campus the first day, including 173 second-graders, 186 third-graders, 187 fourth-graders and 162 fifth-graders.

Stonewall Elementary enrolled 111, including 17 kindergarteners, 16 first-graders, 18 secondgraders, 21 third-graders, 18 fourth-graders and 21 fifth-graders.

Total district elementary enrollment was 819.

Fredericksburg Primary School had 127 pre-k students, 140 kindergarten students and 186 firstgraders, for a campus total of 453.

Enrollments generally rise after the first day, so district officials will release final enrollments at a later date.
