Getting in full swing, the Fredericksburg High School varsity tennis team competed in the Tivy Invitational on Friday, March 3.

No point totals were given as the Billies went up against Del Rio, San Antonio Brackenridge, San Antonio Warren, Hondo, Kerrville Tivy and Dripping Springs.

“We are continuing to improve each week,” head coach Randall King said. “We have not had our entire varsity squad together for a tournament yet.  Hopefully this week we will.”

During the meet, FHS finished first and second in mixed doubles, girls’ doubles finished second and consolation champs, boys’ doubles finished third and girls’ singles finished third.

“We should be very close to having doubles, mixed doubles, and singles lineups set after this week,” King said. “We have no practices or tournaments scheduled over spring break.”

The next meet will be the Hill Country Championships at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park on Friday and Saturday, March 24-25.
