FHS softball in second with game to go

The Fredericksburg High School softball team defeated Canyon Lake Tuesday night, 6-5.

With the win, the Billies are now 13-10-1 overall and 5-2 in district 28-4A. The Billies previously lost to Canyon Lake twice this season and were one game behind the Hawks in district standings. Now, FHS leads the Hawks.

"The girls played one of the best games they played all year," head coach Travis Hejl said. "Beating them was huge for our young Fredericksburg team."

The Billies look to face undefeated Boerne on Friday at 7 p.m. at Boerne.

"If we get a win Friday at Boerne, we will finish second," Hejl said. "We are going to approach that game as if it were a playoff game."

Sophomore Rose Stuewe pitched five innings, allowing six hits and four runs. Emory Boettcher finished the game for the Billies, allowing three hits and one run.

Emma Pehl had two runs for the Billies followed by Mia Torres, Krya Mund, Grace Duecker and Emery Boettcher with one each.

Torres lead the team with three RBI’s.
