Billies golf rack up titles in district tourney

A new district, a new set of champions for the Billies.

Fredericksburg High School golf won boys’ and girls’ team championships in the District 28-4A golf tournament Tuesday and Wednesday, April 11-12, at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Golf Course in Fredericksburg.

Billies Red beat the Boerne High Greyhounds to capture the boys’ team title with a score of 617.

Billies White finished one stroke behind Boerne to finish third with a team score of 723.

The Billies Red girls topped Billies White to win the district championship, beating their fellow FHS golfers with a score of 738 to 815.

FHS’ Mills Meier won the boys’ individual championship by a stroke over 2016 title winner Tyler Kaman, a senior at FHS.

Meier, a junior, ended the tournament’s first day with a score of 79 and shot a 73 to edge past Kaman with a gross score of 152 to Kaman’s 153.
