Billies baseball leads 28-4A standings heading into Boerne tilt

Fredericksburg High School varsity baseball is now atop District 28-4A, following a win in its first encounter with Boerne.

The Billies shut out the Greyhounds 2-0 on April 7 at home. Previously on April 4, FHS crushed Canyon Lake, 10-0.

FHS is now 14-6 overall and in first place in the district with a 6-1 record. Boerne is at 5-2, and third-place Bandera is at 3-4.

The Billies played their second game against Boerne on April 11 after press time. Next up for FHS will be Hondo, on the road, at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13.

“Every (district) game will be a grind,” said FHS baseball coach Derrick Dietrich. “We just need to take it one game at a time.”

FHS 2, Boerne 0

The two runs Fredericksburg scored in the second inning turned out to be all they’d need as they held on to blank Boerne, 2-0, on April 7 at home.
