Two safe following water rescue

Two people are safe after a swift water rescue late Thursday night.

Deputies from the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched at 11:30 p.m. to the Pedernales River bridge crossing on Goehmann Lane.

The passenger of a pickup, Cody Allen Wright, 23, of Abilene, called and was clinging to a tree in the water.

He did not know what had happened to the driver of the pickup, Koda Dayne Pack, 24, of Merkel.

Deputies used rope to pull Wright to the bank where he was treated and released by Fredericksburg Fire EMS.

In the process, Wright received a call from Pack who was back at the residence they were staying at.

Pack was able to get out of the water but could not locate Wright at the time.  Pack had received a ride from a work associate. He was later treated and released by Fredericksburg Fire EMS.

Fredericksburg Fire EMS was also assisted by the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department and Willow City Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
