Eisbahn will open Friday for skaters
Ice skating will make its way to Fredericksburg for the winter season.
“Eisbahn” will return for its 13th season on Marktplatz from Friday, Nov. 24 through Sunday, Jan. 7.
With opening day set the day after Thanksgiving, hours for Eisbahn correspond with the schedule of Heritage School, sponsors of the rink.
Before school lets out for the holiday break, the rink will be open Monday-Thursday from 4-8 p.m. on Nov. 27-30, Dec. 4-7, Dec. 11-14 and Dec. 18-19.
On Fridays, the rink is open from 4-10 p.m., along with Wednesday, Dec. 20.
During opening weekend, Dec. 2, 9, 16, 21-23, 26-30 and Jan. 1-6, the rink will be open from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
The rink will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
On New Year’s Eve, it will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. And, on New Year’s Day, it will welcome skaters from 2-10 p.m.
The rink may be reserved for private parties any time it is not open to the public.
A full day, come-and-go pass is $15, which includes the rental of skates. Ten passes can be purchased for $135.
Concessions may be bought near the rink, and include such items as hot chocolate, pizza and candy. Seating is available for those who would rather watch people skate rather than brave the slippery ice themselves.
Officials estimate that close to 9,000 visitors will visit Eisbahn this holiday season to lace up skates and try out their balance on the wintery oval.
Gift buyers are encouraged Club and to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
