A 17-year-old Kerrville woman is dead after the car she was riding in crashed into another vehicle on “Dead Man’s Curve” at Texas 16 South, according to Texas Department of Public Safety reports.
Troopers were called to investigate the collision at 8:57 p.m., Saturday, June 25, according to reports.
Laura Burton, 17, was the passenger in a Hyundai Elantra, driven by Garrette Bingham, 17.
Burton was transported to Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg, where she succumbed to her injuries, DPS reports stated. Bingham was treated and released.
Troopers said the Elantra was traveling southbound Texas 16 when it lost control and went into a right slide into the northbound lane of traffic. It was raining and the road conditions were wet.
The driver in the Ford Explorer, Jennifer Reichle, attempted to veer left to avoid a collision and struck the Elantra on the passenger side.
Reichle, her husband Philip, and two children under the age of 16 were transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Troopers said.
The crash is still under investigation.
