Motorcycle riders from across the country are welcome to the 21st annual Hill Country Run motorcycle rally May 5-7 in Luckenbach, sponsored by the Optimist Club of Fredericksburg.
The Hill Country Run in three days filled with food, live music and miles of riding through the towns and vistas of the Texas Hill Country.
The weekend starts with a social and welcome at Hondo’s on Main at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 4.
Guests are invited to an informal social gathering featuring music and food, with extra surprises for attending registrants.
Check-in for Friday and Saturday’s events begins at 9 a.m. in Luckenbach, starting with a cowboy breakfast.
The Hill Country Ride takes place on Friday and the “Brew and Barbecue” dinner is set for Saturday.
Tickets for the “Brew and Barbecue” are $15 and sold in advance.
Saturday’s “Hill Country Road Trip” has stops planned for Albert Ice House, Hill Billyz, Pecan Grove Store and Tubby’s Ice House.
The riders will pull into designated stops where they can drop tickets in a box for a prize drawing.
Prize winners will be announced at 7 p.m. that day.
Terry Jennings, the son of country music star Waylon Jennings, will be on hand at Luckenbach to sign copies of his book, “Waylon: Tales of My Outlaw Dad,” from 3:30-6 p.m. Saturday.
Waylon Jennings is known for the 1977 chart-topping song “Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love),” which he sang with Willie Nelson.
The weekend concludes with a cowboy breakfast and a Sunday morning worship service.
Proceeds from the Hill Country Run go to fund Fredericksburg Optimist Club projects, including the T-ball program, scholarship program, oratorical contest and essay contest.
The rally’s net proceeds will be returned to the youth in Fredericksburg.
