“The Value of One” brings together a powerful body of new paintings by local artist Kristine Ziems. Each piece is an exploration of the value the lightness or darkness – of one color.
Ziems’ paintings are built through a process of layering a single color with black and white. Through movement and composition, the paintings invite the viewer into an immersive experience with a color. The breadth of one color, its value, is seen in Ziems’ use of gestural marks and lines. From dark to light the colorful abstract paintings evoke motion, growth, change, yet at the same time unity and consistency as the core color remains side by side the expanse of its values.
Come meet Kristine and explore “The Value of One” at the artist reception Friday, June 5 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Art Guild – 308 E. Austin Street. Wine and refreshments provided.
The event is free and open to the public and all art is available for purchase.
