The Guadalupe has always been part of life in the Hill Country—beautiful, steady, and, at times, unforgiving. Last summer reminded us of that in the hardest way. The loss of young lives, especially those sent off to camp with such anticipation, is something a community never forgets. It gives pause. It reminds us how closely joy and sorrow can sometimes stand together along that river.
