Friday’s Founders Day luncheon celebrated Evelyn Weinheimer
Evelyn Weinheimer was born in Fredericksburg during the final years of World War II. Her first years were backdropped by stories of the past as her grandparents and mother cared for her while her father was away at war. Thus began Weinheimer’s lifelong relationship with ancestral and local history. Come 2008, the former elementary school teacher dove headfirst into historical preservation, starting her 17-year tenure as a jack-of-alltrades at the Gillespie County Historical Society (GCHS).
