Uniting to prevent child abuse in our community
It’s April again, a time of rebirth, reconnecting to the outdoors, and enjoying the colors and warmth of Spring. Our community’s children feel released from the confines of winter. For some of our children, however, these feelings are elusive. They are children who live with abuse and neglect. Each year in April, our Gillespie County Child Services Board shines a light on this difficult subject during national Child Abuse Prevention Month. Our county is not immune to child abuse. In the last year, 41 cases of child abuse and neglect were confirmed in Gillespie County.
