Spring has sprung around Fredericksburg and signs of it were evident most everywhere. On a sunny Saturday, the National Museum of the Pacific War hosted two of its seasonal Pacific War Combat Zone reenactments, featuring the always popular flame thrower demonstration. At left, the surest Texas sign of spring are the burgeoning bluebonnets which began to spring up and dotted landscapes all over the county. At right, Pioneer Museum hosted spring break activities, including historic weapons demonstrations and music from 92-years-young “Doc” Blakely, a favorite author, humorist and musician, who belted out a rousing rendition of “Jambalaya” for crowds at the museum’s complex. — Standard-Radio Post/Ken Esten Cooke
