State-Bound: FHS girls basketball to play in state championship

The Fredericksburg High School varsity girls basketball team reached the state championship game for the first time since 1948 after the Lady Billies defeated Bridge City Tuesday night, 49-45, at Bryan Rudder High School in Bryan.

FHS (31-8) needed every single second to take down a scrappy Bridge City Cardinals team (33-3) and advance to the state title matchup for the first time in 78 years.
