If you have ever passed by the Gillespie County Extension Office over by the airport, you may have noticed an open area with pretty, colored flags. These pretty flags highlight my turfgrass trial, where I am testing five different grass types for drought resistance. Included in the trial is “Sundancer” buffalograss, “Sahara” common bermudagrass, “Timeless 2 Way” blue grama and buffalograss blend, “UC Verde” buffalograss, and “Citrablue” St. Augustine. Last year I only watered this trial every two weeks but in 2025, I did not water it at all.
