Thou shall not commit crape murder
There are many ways to trim crape myrtles, but not all of them are correct. I have seen crape myrtles gently thinned and trained like trees, clipped incorrectly to form a round ball, cut down to the ground to restart growth or had their all their top growth lopped off (aka crape murder).
