Texas singer-songwriter Michael Martin Murphey will perform a Cowboy Christmas at Rockbox Theater on Friday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m.
Murphey will be accompanied by his Rio Grande Band and the Rocky Mountain Vintage Dancers. The Rockbox Theater is located at 109 N. Llano St., Fredericksburg.
The show, Cowboy Christmas, evolved into a live production. It aims to bring “frontier holiday spirit to modern audiences nationwide,” according to a press release about the show.
This year is the 50th anniversary of Murphey’s album “Blue Sky Night Thunder” and his platinum single “Wildfire.” His anniversary celebrations include a new duet of “Wildfire” with CMA Male Vocalist of the Year winner Cody Johnson. He is also re-recording the “Blue Sky Night Thunder” album with several prominent Nashville artists. In addition, he is starring in the new feature film, “Wildfire: The Legend of the Cherokee Ghost Horse,” inspired by the song “Wildfire.” The movie co-stars Anne Heche, Adrian Paul, Chevel Shepherd, and Moses Brings Plenty.
