Texas Cellos will perform folksongs and Christmas carols during its “A Nordic Christmas” show after the Frederickbsurg’s “Light the Night” parade.
The show is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 5 at St. Joseph’s Halle, 212 W. San Antonio St. with a pre-concert reception at 7:30 p.m. Music will begin 30 minutes after the parade ends.
Twelve cellists will perform the Nordic story tradition that stems from a story of a girl carrying food to Christians hiding in Roman catacombs, wearing a candle on her head and singing carols so they would be comforted by her approach, according to Joseph Kuipers, Texas Cellos’ founder and creative director.
Tickets are available online through Eventbrite, and admission includes a glass of mulled wine.
On Friday, Dec. 19, the organization will present, “The Cello Chronicles,” featuring a quartet of international soloists. The concert will be held at Altstadt Brewery, 6120 U.S. 290 East in Fredericksburg, beginning at 6 p.m.
The concert will feature a musical tour of world history and culture, from ancient Italy through The Beatles, concluding with an arrangement of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”
Tickets for “The Cello Chronicles” are available on Eventbrite, and include admission to the event and access to an appetizer buffet. Guests are encouraged to join the performers for dinner after the event, and will receive a 10% discount on food.
