Essence Christmas show is Sunday

“The Joys of Christmas” will be presented at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Essence Women’s Choir’s annual holiday concert at Zion Lutheran Church, 426 W. Main St.

Organized by Laurie Jenschke, the choir features local women of all ages who share a passion for music and community. The choir is accompanied by Rita Saavedra on piano. Jenschke is assisted by Michele Stehling and Lisa Weinheimer.

This year’s program highlights the Kirk Mechem arrangement of international Christmas carols titled, “The Seven Joys of Christmas,” accompanied by Madeleine Restaino on harp, Tamara Raatz on clarinet, Christy Lockhart on flute and David Isadore on oboe.

In addition, the choir will perform three carols accompanied by local guitarist Michael Fontenot.

“We are excited to bring this joyful program to our community,” Jenschke said. “The music celebrates the beauty of the season with the voices of the women’s choir.”

The public is invited to attend. Donations will be accepted at the door to support the choir’s ongoing mission of sharing music with the community.
