Counter-clockwise from left, Fredericksburg’s Fourth of July fireworks display was postponed to Labor Day weekend, when rain hit Gillespie and surrounding counties on July 4. A chrysanthemum aerial display lit up a plane at the Gillespie County Airport on Saturday night. – Photo by Erin Carter James Hoot, co-owner of Sky Wonder Pyrotechnics, showed the trailer holding the grand finale of Saturday’s fireworks display. The homemade fireworks launcher on the trailer held 180 shells, which lit up the sky for about 15 seconds, according to Hoot. Switchboard operators from left, Jared Hoot and Gary Wehmeyer manned the control board that was wired to each individual shell. The team set off 240 shells at 8:30 p.m., which lasted 15 minutes and the 180 more for the finale that was 15 seconds total. A festive warzone-like atmosphere permeated ground zero of the fireworks launch on the driving range at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park on Saturday. – Standard-Radio Post/Christine Granados
