Head Cheese belongs to a culinary heritage
If you are a regular reader of this column, you will remember my Uncle Ben Hahn. In the mid-1950s, he returned here for a while after rearing his children in the valley. I never learned why he came back, but we were happy to have him here. He was a butcher for H-E-B when the chain was then largely confined to South Texas. While H-E-B was started in Kerrville, no store would be built here for another 25 years.
