The Luckenbach Country School is hosting an open house on Saturday, June 7.
Visitors are invited to explore the school from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3566 Luckenbach Road, Fredericksburg. There will be a display of old toys and games.
The Luckenbach School, established in 1855 when Peter Pehl deeded a twoacre plot of land, has a rich history. The school district was consolidated with the Fredericksburg Independent School District in 1964, but the building remains a vibrant community center, according to a spokesperson.
In addition to its historical significance, the school hosts regular pinochle card games every second, third, and fourth Sunday of the month starting at 2 p.m. The public is welcome to join these gatherings.
The school building is available for rent. For information contact the school’s secretary at 830456-1073 or visit historicschools. org/luckenbachschool. html.
