Harper baseball superlatives announced

The Harper Longhorns varsity boys’ baseball season came to an end in the area round of the playoffs against Burton on Thursday, May 8, at Hays High School in Buda.

The Longhorns completed the 2025 campaign with an overall record of 17-11.

Numerous members of the Harper Longhorns baseball team received postseason honors for their achievement on the field and in the classroom.

Braydon Lake led the way for the Longhorns after being named the District 282A Division I Offensive Most Valuable Player of the Year.

Even more impressive is that Lake was just a sophomore this year and will be returning to lead Harper next season.

First team honors in District 28-2A went to Connor Mauldin, William Spaeth and Bryson Denton.

Mauldin will graduate after making the list as an outfielder for Harper.

Spaeth is a junior and will return next year after making first team as a pitcher.

Utility player, Denton, graduated this season for the Longhorns.

Making the second team were Drew Chandler, Blane Craig, Ethan Ballard, Jaylon Wilson, Jax Bounds and Tate Garrett.

Chandler and Ballard graduated this season as seniors. Chandler was named at the catcher position and Ballard earned his honors as an outfielder.

The future looks bright for Harper as Craig returns at third base; Wilson as an outfielder; Bounds as a designated hitter and Garrett as a utility player. All four players listed above were sophomores this year.

Honorable mention accolades went to J.C. Smith and Chase Hawkins.

Academic All-District honors went to Ballard, Chandler, Mauldin, Smith, Spaeth, Caelan Bernhard, Bounds, Craig, Garrett, Lake, Wilson and Heath Wisdom.

Manager Keoni Fogle also earned Academic All-District honors. Taking it one step further, Ballard and Fogle were also selected to the Academic All-State Team.
