Developers, city officials and well-wishers were on hand Tuesday morning for groundbreaking ceremonies for Fredericksburg’s newest luxury development, The Meuse, a 200-room resort at the intersection of U.S. 290 West and U.S. 87 North. Named with a nod to the town’s founder, the west-side resort will feature a 200-room hotel, restaurant and bar, along with a retail district centered around the 1800s Klingelhoefer House. From left at Tuesday’s ceremony were: Blake Berg, senior vice president of development and construction; Arsean Maqame and Roberto Contreras IV, co-presidents; Fredericksburg Mayor Jeryl Hoover; Arik Kono, regional vice president of development for Kimpton; Acho Axuike, chief operating officer; and George Pontikes, contractor.
