FHS boys take second at District 26-4A meet

The Fredericksburg High School varsity boys’ track and field team took second place at the District 26-4A Track and Field Meet at Canyon Lake High School last Wednesday and Thursday.

The Fredericksburg High School varsity boys’ track and field team took second place at the District 26-4A Track and Field Meet at Canyon Lake High School last Wednesday and Thursday.

“A great day by the Battlin’ Billie boys’ track team,” Head Coach Jason Roemer said. “We qualified someone in every event to area except in three events: long jump, triple jump and 400-meter race. In those events, we were close.”

The FHS boys individually won district in several categories.

Rhett Ayala took first place in the shot put with a mark of 44’-5.5”, which was a personal best this season.

Luke Harkleroad, Emi Sanchez, Asher Burdett and George Stenberg claimed first place in the 4x100meter relay. This set a new school record.

Derek Adams won district in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.11.

George Stenberg won the district championship in 100-meter dash with a time of 10.80 seconds.

Additional area qualifiers include Isaiah Villa, Rylan Kovar, Koehn Constantine, Cody Helmers, Luke Fuchs, John Moore, Jackson Moellendorf and Jack Whittington.

“We are very proud of the efforts of our kids,” Roemer said. “They worked so hard at the meet, and we had a large number of personal bests, and lots of teamwork and support from all.”

The Billies qualifiers will participate in the Area Track and Field Meet at Wimberley High School all day long on Wednesday, April 9.
