55TH LBJ TREE LIGHTING

CLOCKWISE FROM TOP: Hundreds of visitors took part in the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, then saw a live nativity scene staged by youth from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and took part in a tour of the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm. Christine Jacobs, acting superintendent of the LBJ National Historical Park, welcomes the crowd to the event in which both the state and national park plays a role. Trombone player Brian Green donned his merriest elf hat for “Just Because Fun Bunch Band” performance, which consisted of hymns and Christmas sing-a-long tunes. Sherry Hylbom shares a laugh with visitors in the kitchen of the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm, at which traditional German treats were served to guests. Rev. Phillip D. Henning, of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, gave a reading of the Christmas story from the book of Luke.
