Nominations for the Hans Hannemann Community Service Award, presented by the Fredericksburg Rotary Club, are due Thursday, Oct. 31.
The award recognizes a non-Rotarian community member who contributes to the town or county through civic involvement.
Any business owner or employee is eligible if they exemplify the Rotary International motto of “Service Above Self” and the organization’s “4-Way Test” of: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
Hannemann was a local businessman who ran an automobile dealership and was instrumental in formation of the Gillespie County Airport, served on the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department, and was active in local Boy Scouts, historical preservation efforts, city transportation committee and the Market Square Redevelopment Commission.
