The Fredericksburg Police Department responded to 421 calls for service and made 224 traffic stops and three arrests for the week of Sept. 23-29.
Arrests
A patrol officer observed a traffic violation near the intersection of Texas 16 South and Highway Street on Monday, Sept. 23. The officer made a traffic stop on the 2200 block of Texas 16 South and told the man driving the reason for the stop was because the license plate did not match with dispatch. Alejandro Limon-Vasquez, 36, of Boerne, was arrested for display fictitious license plate and taken to the Gillespie County Jail.
Also on Monday, a patrol corporal observed a traffic violation on the 100 block of Friendship Lane and made a traffic stop. After making contact with the man driving, the officer learned from dispatch that he had two active local warrants. Hayden Ryan Ross, 21, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for two violating a promise to appear warrants and was taken to jail.
On Thursday, Sept. 26, a patrol officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Billie Drive regarding a disturbance. When the officer arrived on scene and spoke with the complainant and another man, the man was arrested. Jarid James Stout, 34, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for assault causes bodily injury family member. He was transported to jail.
Fraud
An officer talked with a complainant about a possible scam on Monday, Sept. 23. The complainant said they received a phone call from a person claiming to be with Chase Bank. The unknown person said someone used the complainant’s bank card and needed the complainant’s information. The complainant ended the call, and no information was given out. The report is for documentation only.
On Wednesday, Sept. 25, an officer spoke with a complainant regarding a scam. The complainant told the officer they had found puppies for sale of Facebook Market Place and reached out to the seller. The seller requested $604.99, which was paid through PayPal on Sept. 18. The seller claimed to be part of a company called Epic Cava Poo Puppies. On Sept. 21, the seller told the complainant to send an additional $850 dollars for freight and the kennel that was requested. An additional $500 was sent due to not having the right size kennel. The complainant realized this was a scam and was able to cancel the last payment. A report was made, and a case number was provided to the complainant in order to dispute the charges to their bank.
An officer spoke with a complainant regarding a fraud on Thursday, Sept. 26. The complainant told the officer they received two reports from Credit Wise stating their Social Security number was compromised on Sept. 11, 2024. The Social Security number is being used by Araceli Alvarez at 801 Old Moore Road, Selma, North Carolina. Screenshots were taken of the notifications and the report was forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division for further investigation in an attempt to locate and identify the suspect. On Friday, Sept. 27, an officer spoke with a complainant in regard to a fraud. The complainant told the officer they were scammed, and their driver’s license was given out. A report was made, and a report number was provided to the complainant. No further action was needed. Also on Friday, an officer spoke with a complainant in regard to a scam. The complainant had received an automated call claiming to be with Publisher’s Clearing House stating that the complainant was a grand prize winner. Publisher’s Clearing House wanted the complainant’s email along with them opening a new bank account. No information was given out. The report was made for documentation at this time.
Theft
On Tuesday, Sept. 24, an officer spoke with a complainant in regard to a theft at an antique shop on the 200 block of East San Antonio Street in regard to a couple of documents that were taken. The report is still under investigation at this time.
Also on Tuesday, an officer spoke with a complainant in regard to a possible theft. After gathering all the information, it was determined this was a civil matter and it originally occurred in the county. A county deputy was notified of the incident. No further action was needed.
An officer was dispatched to the grocery store on the 400 block of South Adams Street regarding a theft on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The complainant told the officer they had three chainsaws stolen out of the bed of their truck possibly the day before. The report is still under investigation at this time.
Also on Wednesday, an officer spoke with a complainant in regard to theft. After gathering all the information, it was determined this was a civil matter. No further action was taken.
