Fredericksburg Theater Company will hold auditions at 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday, Oct. 6-7, for five lead roles in its Christmas production, “Gifts of the Magi,” directed by Jeryl Hoover.
Scheduled performances are set for two weekends, Dec. 5-15 at the Steve W. Shepherd Theater.
“I’m looking for two women and three men who are singing actors,” Hoover said. “Everyone has a meaty role and a musical feature or two. This is a singing actor’s dream show because every role involves a lot of stage time and some excellent music.” The cast is all adults in the age range 20 through 45. Voice types required are soprano for the women and baritone for the men.
The six-person cast tells the story of young Jim and Della Dillingham, a hardscrabble couple in 1905 New York City, who sacrifice their most valued possession to give each other a gift at Christmas.
The play is 90 minutes. Interested persons can contact Hoover directly at jeryl@fredericksburgtheater. org or 830-456-9550. More information related to the auditions can be found on FTC’s website at fbgtc.org.
