“Zweite Weihnachten” (Second Christmas) is a Fredericksburg German tradition of food, drink, music and fellowship. The event also featured traditional baked Stollen and warm Glühwein along with the singing of carols in both German and English, and was held in the sanctuary of the Gillespie County Historical Society on Tuesday, Dec. 26. Spokesman Pit Vins said the event was a great success, attended by quite a crowd. As usual, the event was sponsored by the Fredericksburg German Club, the Fredericksburg-Montabaur Sister City Verein, and the Gillespie County Historical Society. Above, musical entertainment was provided by Annabel Wilkinson, accordion, and the “Silver Strings” on dulcimers, including, from left, Mollye Long, Jan Truel, Regina Rosenwinkel, Barbara Zenner and Karen Loeffler. — Photo courtesy Pit Vins
