Homesteader hopes to teach, learn from locals
When Ami Martin’s kids moved out, she knew it was time to move to Fredericksburg and begin her homestead.
Martin grew up in Portland, Oregon, where her grandmother taught her the love of farming. For six years, Martin operated an urban farm where she hosted guests, grew food and raised chickens.
When her daughter went to college, she sold her house and purchased a home outside Fredericksburg in weeks.
