Weinheimers lead Billies softball at the plate, on the mound

Freshmen Ella and Ashlyn Weinheimer are leading the Fredericksburg High School varsity softball team to success.

Ella Weinheimer had a shut-out against Hondo, pitching seven innings, allowing no runs off five hits.

Ashlyn drove in five runs to defeat rival Boerne on Tuesday, April 3.

Heading into the second half of the district season, the Billies are 4-1 in District 28-4A and 16-7 overall.

The Billies defeated Boerne, 6-2, and Hondo, 5-0.

Antonian hosted the Billies late Tuesday in a non-district match-up, and the Billies will host Bandera for a district game at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 13 at the FHS Fields.

“Playing Antonian provides us an opportunity to get game reps without the stress of knowing that the outcome matters,” head coach Melissa Hall said.

Ahead of an April 17 game against a district undefeated Canyon Lake, the Billies look to avenge an early season loss.

“I think our defense let us down some during the Canyon Lake game so I am excited to see how respond this second time because have been working on getting better,” Hall said.
