United baseball wins tourney
Fredericksburg United Baseball 12u took first place at the recent Thanksgiving Rumble tournament in Henly.
The team played four games Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18-19 and finished with a record of 3-1.
United Baseball is a Fredericksburg-based select organization seeking to hone the competence and character of young men in the Texas Hill Country, said a spokesman for the team.

ATX Sox Cortinas 2
In Saturday’s first game, Brayton Staedtler and Nathan White handled the pitching against ATX Sox Cortinas.
With solid hitting, including home runs from Wyatt Row and Nathan Rodriguez, United cruised to a 19-2 victory. Staedtler picked up the win.
ATX Sox House 13,
In their second game, United faced an ATX Sox House team from Austin.
United rallied late in the game but couldn’t overcome early struggles, falling short, 13-5.
Colton Moore, Weston Herber and Row shared the pitching duties in game two.
ATX Sox House 4
United rematched against the same ATX Sox House team on Sunday.
A timely walk from Ray Row and key hits from Weston Herber and Robert Harter kept them in the game.
Another home run from Rodriguez, and a critical catch from Hunter Bradley helped secure the 5-4 win for United. Wyatt Row earned the victory on the mound, throwing his best game of the year thus far, according to coach Matt White.
Hill Country Reds 6
In the championship game, United faced the Hill Country Reds.
With early key hits from Herber, Staedtler and White, the team jumped out to an early lead. After six strong innings of pitching from Colton Moore, and another home run from Row, the game was tied 6-6.
In extra innings, Row’s relief pitching and strong defense from Shepherd Findley at second base kept the Reds from scoring.
In the second extra inning, a clutch hit by Fernando Ramirez drove in the winning run, securing the championship for United.
