Two Billies swim in high-level meet

Fredericksburg High School swimmers Troy Kneese and Tony Martinez competed in the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association Championships at Palo Alto College on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1-2.

In order to be invited to compete, swimmers must have qualifying times that rank among the best in the state.

Kneese placed fifth in the 50- and 100-yard Backstroke and 10th in the 50-yard butterfly. Martinez placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle, 14th in the 100-yard butterfly and qualified for finals in the 50-yard butterfly.

“Troy and Tony had incredible efforts and set personal best times in all of their events against some of the best swimmers in the state and in the nation in all UIL classifications,” coach Mike Myers said. “Several junior national records were set during this meet.  We are very proud of Troy and Tony in representing FHS at this level of competition.”
