Longhorns grab two more victories in baseball action

Harper picked up a pair of wins during the past week, one thanks to an offensive explosion and the other one due to dramatic defense.

After pounding out 11 hits on Tuesday, April 17, in its 18-0 win at non-district opponent San Antonio Cole, Harper kept its cool Friday in taking a 3-2 home district decision over Ozona.

The regular season finale was held last night (Tuesday) at league-leading Mason. Although results weren’t available by the press deadline, Mason had already captured the district crown.

Harper and Center Point were left to battle it out for the league’s second seed.

With the Longhorns leading 3-2 and one gone in the top of the seventh with runners on the corners, Ozona’s Justin Yeager chopped a high-hopper toward the mound that was barely snagged by Clark.
